Welcome to Goa Stay of the second podcast.
Speaker A:My name is John and today we're joined by Clay and Chad from United Patriot Coin.
Speaker A:How are you guys today?
Speaker B:Great.
Speaker C:Doing good.
Speaker A:Awesome.
Speaker A:Well, let's go ahead and dive in a little bit about who you guys are, what you do for United Patriot Coin.
Speaker A:We'll go a little bit deeper later on the show, but go ahead and just introduce yourself to the folks.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:So my name is Chad Burge and I'm the general manager here at United Patriot Coin.
Speaker C:Which basically means that I kind of make sure everything goes smoothly on all sides of the business and ultimately means I get in trouble if something goes wrong.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker B:My name is Clay O'Beir.
Speaker B:I'm the new mismatous here at United Patriot Coin and Director of E Commerce.
Speaker B:Basically what I do is I buy and sell the metals and make sure that we're able to fulfill our orders that come across online.
Speaker B:And I've been doing this for about 30 years.
Speaker A:Awesome.
Speaker A:Well, we're going to jump into our first segment which is Rapid Fire Questions.
Speaker A:Rapid Fire Questions brought to you by Blackout Coffee.
Speaker A:Try Blackout Coffee's goa.
Speaker A:No compromise blend.
Speaker A:Get your freedom caffeinated from Blackout Coffee.
Speaker A:You can find that on the GOA store or app like Blackout Coffee.
Speaker A:Now I'm gonna ask you guys five questions.
Speaker A:You can answer them as quickly or slowly as you want and we'll go from there.
Speaker A:So first question.
Speaker A:If you could go back in time and change history, would you?
Speaker B:I would probably not now.
Speaker C:Yeah, I think.
Speaker C:I think.
Speaker C:I don't think I would either.
Speaker C:I think we.
Speaker C:No, I wouldn't.
Speaker A:All right, what was your last impulse buy?
Speaker C:A suppressor.
Speaker C:Yeah, I finally got got on.
Speaker C:I bought a surefire RC2,556 suppressor.
Speaker C:And yeah, that was my last sort of like impulse buy.
Speaker B:Me probably something at Bass Pro Shops.
Speaker B:A new fishing rod.
Speaker B:They just opened one up here down the road.
Speaker A:So, you know, those are good impulse buys.
Speaker A:See.
Speaker A:Do you think aliens are real?
Speaker C:Well, I know that they did.
Speaker C:So they did.
Speaker C:Didn't they have like a congressional hearing on that over the last like day or two?
Speaker C:And it sounds like maybe, but I don't know.
Speaker C:That's a hard one.
Speaker C:I would say my instincts is to say maybe just because the universe is so big.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:You know, mathematically, maybe.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:I tend to lean that way.
Speaker B:There's a movie that came out, I think it was a late night called Fire in the sky and supposedly was true story.
Speaker B:But once you watch this show, you kind of start Thinking, you know, yeah, this.
Speaker B:This could be real.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:What have you been.
Speaker A:Been binge watching lately?
Speaker C:I've been on the Penguin.
Speaker A:Ooh, good one.
Speaker C:It has been.
Speaker C:It's been very good.
Speaker C:It's crazy what they like that suit they put Colin Farrell in.
Speaker C:Like, you can't even tell that's Colin Farrell.
Speaker C:It's.
Speaker C:It's pretty incredible.
Speaker C:It's been.
Speaker C:That's what we've been into lately.
Speaker B:Tulsa King all the way.
Speaker A:Oh, hit me right here.
Speaker A:I love Tulsa King.
Speaker A:Such a good show.
Speaker A:I've been.
Speaker A:Been watching.
Speaker A:So I finished the last episode of Tulsa King on the flight here the other day.
Speaker A:I've been watching Lioness.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's a good show too.
Speaker B:That season two's out right now, so.
Speaker C:Yeah, that's good.
Speaker A:I'm.
Speaker A:I'm almost through season one, so I'm really, really excited for that last question.
Speaker A:If you could make one firearms movie realistic, which one would it be?
Speaker C:One firearms movie realistic?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:I don't know.
Speaker C:When you say firearms movie, my immediate.
Speaker B:Like a war movie or what, you.
Speaker C:Know, I don't know.
Speaker C:So it's like, I think about Heat, but Heat is pretty realistic, you know?
Speaker C:So I'm trying to think of, like, a movie that's firearms, but, like, not very realistic.
Speaker C:Maybe like Police Academy or Tropic Thunder.
Speaker C:Oh, yeah.
Speaker C:Tropic Thunder is a good one.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:The one that we've gotten the most of from that question is Rambo First Blood.
Speaker C:Really?
Speaker A:Yeah, it's.
Speaker A:I don't know why everyone falls to the.
Speaker A:Everybody.
Speaker A:Every guest that I've asked that to all say rambo, first Blood.
Speaker C:Really?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:Dang, we blew it.
Speaker A:It's all right.
Speaker A:Well, it's good to have new ones because I all like this.
Speaker C:Well, I don't even.
Speaker C:I think of a knife when I think about Rambo, you know, I don't even.
Speaker C:Yeah, and I think in first blood, like, what is it only, like, he only kills, like, one person.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:And so, I mean, there's guns involved, but I always think when I think Rambo, I think that big knife.
Speaker C:So don't blame you.
Speaker A:That's what I think too.
Speaker A:But everyone keeps saying they're like, oh, the M60 scene should have been more realistic.
Speaker A:Really?
Speaker C:That's interesting.
Speaker C:I'm have to go back and rewatch it.
Speaker A:So that is our rapid fire question segment.
Speaker A:That again is brought to you by Blackout coffee.
Speaker A:Again, check out Blackout coffees.
Speaker A:No compromise blend support companies that support goa.
Speaker A:Go get yourself some blackout coffee today.
Speaker A:So we're going to dive into the meat and potatoes of this.
Speaker A:Tell us a little bit about United Patriot Coin, how the business works, what you guys all do.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:So United Patriot Coin was started by a pair of brothers named Scott and Glenn Hynen.
Speaker C:They're farmers and agricultural.
Speaker C:They're in the agriculture industry up in Kansas and they put together a team here after wanting to get involved in.
Speaker C:In gold and.
Speaker C:And in guns actually.
Speaker C:And basically it was started with the idea of they had been buying gold and silver for a long time and they had kind of made a lot of the mistakes that a lot of people do when they first got get into it.
Speaker C:And they wanted to start a company from out of those mistakes and kind of do more like an education first company and bring something a little bit different to the market as opposed to, you know, leading with what we want to sell.
Speaker C:We're trying to do what's right for the customer and educate the customer and, and and help them avoid some of the pitfalls that.
Speaker C:That they had avoid that we've all.
Speaker C:We've all made and all seen in the past.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And that's great to hear.
Speaker A:So you guys deal with gold and silver.
Speaker A:There's a ton of different options.
Speaker A:I know you guys have some cool props you want to show off.
Speaker A:So let's go show some cool stuff off.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:I'll turn it over to my numismatist since he's the.
Speaker B:I would say probably for this show we've got a 50 caliber silver bullet which is 10 ounces of pure silver.
Speaker B:They also make these in 5 ounces which are shotgun shells which are pretty cool.
Speaker B:And they make a 2 ounce.308 and 45 for the 1 ounce.
Speaker B:So they come in different, different sizes and they're just pretty cool.
Speaker B:For know they're a little bit more than what you would pay for, you know, just the silver content.
Speaker B:Just because it's kind of more of a novelty, you know.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:And then we've got this second amendment round here.
Speaker C:So this is five ounces of silver.
Speaker C:Got a patriot there on the front and then on the.
Speaker C:The second amendment on the back.
Speaker C:So well r regulated militia on there.
Speaker C:And yeah, we've got, we've got some old stuff here too.
Speaker C:So we've got some old sort of pirate gold.
Speaker C:This is like an escudo back in the day.
Speaker C: So this is a: Speaker C:So from before America was even born then we can even go older than that.
Speaker C:We've got.
Speaker C:This is kind of Clay's expertise.
Speaker C:He's really into ancient coins.
Speaker C:So this is a 2,500-year-old Greek Greek silver coin there.
Speaker B:Athenian AL.
Speaker B:It's 440 to 404 BC.
Speaker B:And it's kind of crazy, you know, how good a condition these things can be in being that old.
Speaker A:Nuts.
Speaker B:Yeah, it is.
Speaker B:It's pretty crazy.
Speaker B:So considering they didn't have a minting process and everything like that back then, everything was just done by hand and with a hammer.
Speaker C:I told you, he's into the ancient stuff.
Speaker A:Listen, I can talk ancient Rome, Greece, all that stuff.
Speaker A:It's crazy to see.
Speaker A:Like you said, they're the we.
Speaker A:I've seen them in the past.
Speaker A:Like you can't copy that because it's just so, like they're just doing it by hand.
Speaker C:Yeah, right.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker B:And you know, the people that were making the, the coinage and stuff like that, that's what I really like about, you know, coins and things like that is it's art and history all balled up into one, you know, and the people that were actually, you know, designated to make these were like the best artist in the whole region, you know, was appointed to make the currency.
Speaker B:So a lot of history, a lot of art.
Speaker B:Really cool.
Speaker A:So you're saying I wouldn't get that job is what you're saying?
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:I mean, you might.
Speaker B: culptor and he passed away in: Speaker A:I'm sitting here, I'm listening to this episode.
Speaker A:How do I get into precious metals?
Speaker A:I'm interested.
Speaker A:I want to hedge my bets.
Speaker A:I want to get more precious metal in case something crazy happens.
Speaker A:How do I get into this?
Speaker A:What's the, what's the best way to get into all this?
Speaker C:So you can call us at, at our phone number, which is on our website, or I'll say it here in a second, but you can go to unitedpatriotcoin.com you can sign up for our, our newsletter there called the Patriot Dispatch, which puts out a lot of great information.
Speaker C:Um, and then, yeah, do some research there.
Speaker C:Obviously YouTube is a great resource as well.
Speaker C:I would encourage you to go do some research on YouTube and then, yeah, call us and, you know, we'll help guide you through what you're looking to achieve and, and tailor towards your goals and what you're wanting to do.
Speaker A:So if I, if I go, I call you guys and I say, hey, I want to do $20 a month and silver, gold, whatever.
Speaker A:What's the best way to start doing that?
Speaker C:So our most popular entry product is called our Patriot pack.
Speaker C:Which starts around, it's around a 200 price point.
Speaker C:And what that comes with is you get a couple 1 oz silver rounds.
Speaker C:These are pretty cool because these are actually divisible.
Speaker C:So you can break these, you can see like the little, little cuts in them.
Speaker C:You can break those apart into little quarter ounce pieces.
Speaker C:And then you get five little one gram bars.
Speaker C:And then you get one one gram piece of gold too.
Speaker C:I don't know if you could see that gold in there.
Speaker C:And it all comes in a cute little, cute little, we'll call it manly bag.
Speaker C:And you can put it all in there.
Speaker C:And that's something that we're, we're starting to see more and more of is.
Speaker C:Is people wanting to do that monthly subscription or a monthly purchase amount.
Speaker C:With silver being at like $30 an ounce right now.
Speaker C:You know, I'd probably start.
Speaker C:You try to get you to go a little bit higher than $20.
Speaker C:But you know, you could get in there if you want to.
Speaker C:But the smaller amounts you got to think about, you can end up paying a little bit more of a premium.
Speaker C:So because it's harder and harder to make smaller and smaller pieces.
Speaker C:So I would want you to.
Speaker C:I'd probably say let's, let's do a little bit more.
Speaker C:You know, let's go for like a hundred bucks or 200 bucks or something like that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And if someone is interested in this any.
Speaker A:I mean people have seen the way the world is and a lot of people are coming back to precious metals.
Speaker A:You know, why would I want to.
Speaker A:What would be the best benefit to invest in precious metals over throwing it into a stock market or throwing it into an investment fund?
Speaker A:And what, what's the value of holding on to some of that precious metals that we.
Speaker A:We've done away with?
Speaker A:Most people have just kind of done away that.
Speaker A:And as a society we've gotten off the gold standard and all that stuff.
Speaker A:How do we.
Speaker A:What's the benefit of all this?
Speaker B:I would say just your purchasing power has remained the same.
Speaker B:I mean the things.
Speaker B: an ounce back in: Speaker B:Would buy the same amount of stuff that it would today.
Speaker B:Okay, but how many 20 bills does that take?
Speaker B:You go back 2, 500 years when this coin was made.
Speaker B:This amount of silver back then would buy the same amount of products as it would today.
Speaker B:So the purchasing power of gold and silver have remained same.
Speaker B:The only difference is, is, you know, the value of a dollar.
Speaker B:You know as well as I do $20 doesn't buy what it did, you know, five, six, 10 years ago.
Speaker B:Not even close.
Speaker B:But the, the purchasing power of your, of your gold and silver, whether the price of gold goes up or down is really, know, doesn't matter.
Speaker B:It's just the value of that at that time and what you can get for it.
Speaker C:Yeah, it's really about wealth preservation and, you know, the freezing of that, of that, of that value of that money that you have.
Speaker C:And I never really like to consider it like an all or a nothing or a this versus that.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:You know, I think diversification is, is the key when it comes to everything, you know, because, yeah, you just don't want to put all your eggs in one basket.
Speaker C:So for me, most of the time it's like, yeah, I encourage you to have some stocks, but I also encourage you, yeah, let's have some gold and silver, let's have some bonds, let's have some, a mixture of different things.
Speaker C:And then even diversity within, within the diversity, you know, just because it, it covers you either way, no matter what's going.
Speaker C:And then we really look at precious metals as a, as a mid to long term thing.
Speaker C:You know, this isn't something that you buy today and sell tomorrow.
Speaker C:This is something that you hold on to for the long term, you know, and, and generally most people, most of our customers are passing it down, you know, just like you do with firearms.
Speaker C:Uh, they're not normally something you sell.
Speaker C:You know, you're something that you pass down to your kids and to your grandkids.
Speaker C:And it's like my dad always says, you know, he's given me some guns over the years and he says, son, don't you ever sell those.
Speaker C:And if you ever get into a financial bind like that, you know, call me first before you start trying to sell guns or something like that.
Speaker C:And it's kind of the same thing with, with gold and, and silver as well.
Speaker B:Yeah, my dad always said, we don't sell guns, we'll trade guns, but we don't sell them.
Speaker A:Hey, you're not supposed.
Speaker A:We're not selling guns.
Speaker A:No, no, I'm with you guys.
Speaker A:I don't sell any guns.
Speaker A:I'd rather hold on to them.
Speaker A:The value just goes up and up.
Speaker A:So I call you guys, I decide to go invest $200, get my pack.
Speaker A:How do I receive that?
Speaker A:Is that something that I, I have to Go to a storefront for.
Speaker A:Does it get mailed to me?
Speaker A:How's that work?
Speaker B:Nope, it's completely mailed to you.
Speaker B:If you were to go on the online and place your order, you know, take your payment over on the website, verify you, make sure you're not fraud, because we don't want anybody out there using your credit card buying gold and getting it shipped somewhere else.
Speaker B:So it'll have to be shipped to your billing address and then it'll get shipped directly to you once your payment clears.
Speaker B:If it's over, you know, a certain dollar amount, it will be ship FedEx and you'll have to sign for it.
Speaker B:But smaller packages like these Patriot packs or something, we just go ahead and put those in the, the regular postal service and get it to you.
Speaker A:And then when I get it, what's the, the best way to store it?
Speaker A:Do you just throw it in a safe?
Speaker B:Is there most safes.
Speaker C:Gun safe?
Speaker C:Yeah, throw it in, put it in.
Speaker B:There with a gun safe?
Speaker C:Yeah, throw it in there with a gun safe.
Speaker C:Or you know, some people do safety deposit boxes at the bank and stuff like that.
Speaker C:But you know, I would think most of, most of the viewers here probably have a gun safe.
Speaker C:So I'd put it in there.
Speaker B:People used to bury it in their chicken coops because it was a good, you know, if someone's getting into chickens, you're knowing it, so.
Speaker C:Yeah, that's true.
Speaker A:I've, I've heard stories about in the south, people digging up silver and gold in their backyard, not knowing it's there.
Speaker A:Somebody left it there.
Speaker A:It's, it's a thing.
Speaker C:It is, yeah.
Speaker A:So if I buy stuff from you, right, do, do I have to fill out any paperwork?
Speaker A:Is there anything that I have to do, claim, do anything like that?
Speaker A:Or is it just like I, it shows up at the house, I'm good to go?
Speaker C:Yeah, pretty much.
Speaker C:You know, obviously I need to know where to ship it, you know, and then if you're going to pay by credit card and stuff like that, then you know, that all needs a checkout, you know, when the credit card process.
Speaker C:But other than that, no, there's no, no forms or, or no reporting requirements or anything like that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And then I, if I buy it from you guys and you know, 10 years go by coming to money crunch.
Speaker A:Do I call you guys to go sell it back to you?
Speaker B:Definitely.
Speaker B:Give us a call back.
Speaker B:We're, we're two way market buying and selling.
Speaker A:See, precious metals is something I'm starting to get into.
Speaker A:I really like the idea of having some on it on hand.
Speaker A:What, what would be the, the best amount to just keep on hand?
Speaker A:You guys have a recommended amount or is there something that a recommended yearly monthly buy that should, you know, I.
Speaker B:Think that depends on everybody's financial situation.
Speaker B:You know, some people, I mean, we've got people that, you know, they'll do thousand dollars a month.
Speaker B:You know, we got some people that do a lot more than that.
Speaker B:But then we have some people that just, you know, can do a couple hundred dollars a month.
Speaker B:And, and you know, we treat them the same as if they're coming in here and spending a half a million dollars at a time.
Speaker C:Yeah, I think most kind of like financial advisors, which, which we're not, but they'll recommend, you know, anywhere from like 10 to 15% of your overall portfolio within precious metals in normal times.
Speaker C:You know, obviously if you think some people are.
Speaker C:This is not normal times, you know.
Speaker C:So we're hoping that it gets better very soon here in the near future, obviously.
Speaker C:But you know, so within that range.
Speaker C:But yeah, like, like we were talking about before.
Speaker C:Diversity is key too.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And when is the, what do you think is the best time to purchase precious metals?
Speaker A:Is it when the market's down?
Speaker A:Is it now?
Speaker A:Is it like what, what is the best time to kind of find those precious metals and, and start investing?
Speaker B:So I would say any, there's not the best time.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:If you've got the funds available to do it, I'll do it.
Speaker B:You know, if it's, if it's there for you, if you try to time it.
Speaker B:And I've been in this market for 30 years and I'm going to tell you right now, every time I make a purchase of gold or silver, it goes down.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:Every time I sell, it goes up.
Speaker B:But like I was saying earlier, the purchasing power is what you're looking at over a long term period of time.
Speaker B:So trying to time it, you know, oh, gold's going down.
Speaker B:Let me just, you know, wait and see.
Speaker B:You know, is it good to buy now or should I wait till next month?
Speaker B:You know, there's really not a.
Speaker B:I mean, I would say now.
Speaker C:Exactly.
Speaker C:Yeah, I think there's that, you know that old saying about the best time to plant a tree.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:You know, and I always try to encourage people to pull out the chart and kind of look at the macro, you know, like, you know, it, yeah, it looks cool to look at the daily charts of the, of the gold and silver price or monthly.
Speaker C:But it's, you Know, pull out and look at that 5 year, 10 year, 20 year pricing of gold and silver and see what it's been doing.
Speaker C:And, and then, you know, if you buy along that time, you know, that's where you should be making that decision.
Speaker C:It's like Clay said, it's impossible to time the market, you know, so it's just really about just continuing to add.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And if I'm looking at this, I'm looking at the price of gold, I'm looking at the price of silver.
Speaker A:I see silver's $30 an ounce.
Speaker A:You know, I get more silver for my bank, for my buck.
Speaker A:Do I.
Speaker A:Should I diversify into both or is it there one way if I say, hey, I just want silver or hey, I just want gold, or should I diversify between the two?
Speaker B:I would definitely diversify between the two.
Speaker B:But you got to keep in mind, okay, so $20,000 worth of silver, it's going to be really hard for you to move around.
Speaker B:Okay, 500 ounces right now is probably, you know, 18,000.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:That's going to be really hard for you to move around.
Speaker B:If your house catches on fire or something like that and you're trying to get stuff out, you're going to go for your guns and you're going to go for your gold and you're going to go for pets, hopefully, you know.
Speaker C:Wait, where's your wife?
Speaker B:Wife, hopefully she's helping me carry stuff out, you know, but, but now silver's extremely heavy when it comes to, you know, 20, $30,000 worth of it, whereas gold, I could put, you know, 50, $60,000 worth of gold in my pocket and you'd never know I had it.
Speaker B:It's, you know, just a lot more portable, I would say.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker B:But you know, some people really die hard on silver.
Speaker B:Some people really die hard on gold.
Speaker B:It's just your preference.
Speaker A:And then when we're looking at that, is it better to get, like you showed off the, the ones that break into pieces, you know, those are great for.
Speaker A:If you're bartering with people or stuff like that.
Speaker A:Is it more, Is it better to get coinage, novelty stuff, things like that, or is it better to get, you know, what do you guys recommend if I'm going to be carrying this around?
Speaker A:Let's just say the world ends and I gotta go barter with people and I gotta carry this stuff around.
Speaker A:What's better in my.
Speaker A:What's the best way to.
Speaker A:Best options?
Speaker C:Yeah, so for that, for that situation.
Speaker C:Yeah, that's exactly what our, our Patriot Pack was originally designed for number one.
Speaker C:It's an affordable entry point to get into precious metals.
Speaker C:But it was really designed for, for that sort of bartering situation in mind.
Speaker C:Because you can break down, you know, the, the 1 ounce rounds into smaller pieces.
Speaker C:You can break down the little one gram pieces down in, into little one gram pieces.
Speaker C:You know, that's where I would go.
Speaker C:I initially, I wanted to answer that with like, buy what you like.
Speaker C:You know, I like different coins.
Speaker C:You know, I like to collect the stuff that's military related or World War II related and that kind of stuff.
Speaker C:But for that particular, you know, if you're foreseeing bartering and stuff like that, then Patriot Pack is a great place to start.
Speaker C: oinage that was minted before: Speaker C:And what I mean by that is like regular coins, like quarters, dimes and stuff like that, that actually used to be real money.
Speaker C:It had 90% silver in it.
Speaker C:So that kind of stuff.
Speaker C:And then, you know, I think Clay was having this here.
Speaker C:We have these combi bars.
Speaker C:You know, these are little 10 gram pieces of silver that.
Speaker C:It's like a Hershey bar.
Speaker C:You can break it, break it apart.
Speaker C:So that's the kind of stuff I would, I would be getting in a.
Speaker C:For a bartering situation.
Speaker C:If you're not getting prepared for that, then, you know, diversify into other stuff and get what you like.
Speaker A:Yeah, I mean, I, I think those 50 cal rounds are calling my name.
Speaker A:Those are.
Speaker C:They're super cool.
Speaker A:They're.
Speaker A:That's super cool.
Speaker C:We actually, we brought.
Speaker C:Sorry to cut you off.
Speaker C:We.
Speaker C:We actually exhibited at the.
Speaker C:At Goals in Knoxville and that was one of.
Speaker C:That was such a popular item to have.
Speaker C:We had those 50 cal rounds out and people just loved, loved them.
Speaker A:I want you speaking of Goals because I appreciate you guys being at the show.
Speaker A:It was a first time event.
Speaker A:It was a great success for us.
Speaker A:How was it for you guys to be meeting with our members, seeing them?
Speaker A:They're passionate about gold and silver and things like that.
Speaker C:It was awesome.
Speaker C:We really, honestly, when we first got there, when we, when we got to Knoxville, we landed late.
Speaker C:I think it was like midnight or something like that.
Speaker C:I really thought we were in trouble for a second because it was like 45 minutes for an Uber, you know, and all this.
Speaker C:I was like, oh man, this could be, this could be bad.
Speaker C:And then.
Speaker C:But I was really impressed by the turnout at Goals.
Speaker C:So much so that we're.
Speaker C:We're going again next year.
Speaker C:We signed up, we want the same booth and everything.
Speaker C:It was really great to be able to connect with, with other second amendment supporters and talk to everybody and the turnout was really impressive and we had a really good time.
Speaker B:I think it was a good show.
Speaker A:Did they?
Speaker A:Because I haven't talked, I haven't talked to you guys since the show.
Speaker A:What was that?
Speaker A:What was our members reception of gold and silver and just talking to you guys about it.
Speaker B:I think there was a lot of curiosity, you know, because they, I don't think they were expecting to see gold company set up there and we were right by the concession.
Speaker B:So there was a lot of, a lot of traffic coming by several times a day.
Speaker B:But they, a lot of them, you know, if when they looked over and they saw we had they, they stopped and they were curious and there was a lot of questions that we were able to answer and you know, I think that's why we'll go back for sure because it just seems like there was a lot of curiosity and a lot of, of people that were interested in it.
Speaker B:You know, they had never even thought about it before, you know.
Speaker B:And then you had some guys that have been like, oh, I've been buying silver for 40 years and I'm, you know, I'm going to keep buying it, blah blah, blah, you know, but there's a lot of curiosity and, and I think it was good to answer those questions and, and introduce those people to this.
Speaker B:And it's another form of, you know, protecting your, your wealth.
Speaker C:And what I, what I was also really surprised about was there was people that had gold and silver on them.
Speaker C:So like we had a bunch of people come up to us.
Speaker C:You know, there was ladies who had necklaces and they would pull out and they had little like these little one gram pieces like in their necklace like ready to pop out and like trade.
Speaker C:There was, there was guys who were like opening their wallets and they had like the little credit cards with like pieces of silver or pieces of gold in it.
Speaker C:So I was, that part was really surprising to me was like seeing people just like oh look, I've got gold on me.
Speaker C:You know, they were like ready to barter and so that was cool.
Speaker A:Yeah, I mean what were some of the questions you were.
Speaker A:Because it is a gold and silver is one of those things and that are curiosity people and a lot of people like you mentioned don't remember or at least the newer generations don't remember silver coins and silver dimes and quarters and how we were on the gold standard and the, the dollar bill said, hey, this is, you know, redeemable for silver at any time, or gold.
Speaker A:Now what were those questions?
Speaker A:Because it is a curiosity because a lot of people are like, oh, it's just gold and silver.
Speaker A:They put it around your neck or put it on your hands.
Speaker A:Not a lot of people invest in it or keep it as much as they used to.
Speaker C:Right?
Speaker C:Yeah, it was, it was like a really great mixture.
Speaker C:You know, the younger people, like what you're saying, really didn't know that America used to make, you know, and still does make gold coins and stuff like that.
Speaker C:We did have some of the paper, the silver certificates, like what you're talking about.
Speaker C:And so a lot of it was like education, you know, just talking to people about, yeah, this is what we used to do, and this is what, what used to happen here in this country.
Speaker C:And this is real money, you know, it's not just, you know, fiat currency, like kind of what we have now.
Speaker C:But then, like Clay was saying, there was also a lot of people just coming up, you know, who.
Speaker C:They already knew everything.
Speaker C:They was like, they knew stuff, you know, they were teaching us stuff about things.
Speaker C:And so it was pretty cool.
Speaker C:But what were some of the questions you got, Clay?
Speaker B:A lot of the questions, you know, were the ones that you've been asking here.
Speaker B:So how do I do this?
Speaker B:You know, how do I get started?
Speaker B:How much should I buy?
Speaker B:Things like that.
Speaker B:Just really basic questions that, you know, that we were able to answer and then point them in the direct direction for, for their needs, basically.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And that's the, the big thing that I've learned about gold and silver because I, my gold and silver experience is 50 cent pieces and dimes.
Speaker A:Because I used to work, I used to work at cash register.
Speaker A:So people come up and go, yeah, wait a second, that's.
Speaker A:It's a little shinier, a little different.
Speaker C:Looks different, makes a different sound.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:And so I, I bought five rolls of mercury head dimes when I was working at a cash register.
Speaker A:Because people, I opened it, I looked at it, I was like, wait a second.
Speaker A:Nope, those are mine.
Speaker A:I'll pay.
Speaker A:I'll put the money in the drawer.
Speaker A:But it's, it's those things where even now you may come across a silver quarter or silver dime somewhere.
Speaker A:You know, how, how do you tell if you.
Speaker A:If it's silver?
Speaker A:You don't know.
Speaker B:So basically, the date is the easiest way to tell anything.
Speaker B:64 and before is going to have be 90% silver.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:We've got clients here that actually go to banks and buy rolls and bags and of half dollars and quarters and things like that.
Speaker B:And they'll just run it through their machines.
Speaker B:They've got certain, you know, counting machines that will throw aside the silver coin.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:It's like a treasure hunt for them.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And they'll do it.
Speaker C:They'll.
Speaker B:They'll go to the bank and spend or $4,000 getting coins, come back, sit in their garage or at their table at home and just do that for fun.
Speaker B:And, you know, and if they.
Speaker B:And sometimes they'll, you know, they'll walk away making a couple hundred dollars out of one batch, you know, and then they'll just bring them back and do it again at another branch.
Speaker B:You know, it's.
Speaker B:It's, you know, it's.
Speaker B:It's fun for some people.
Speaker B:A lot of.
Speaker B:Some people really get into the collecting aspect of it, which is, you know, really fascinating for me.
Speaker B: es from, you know, ancient or: Speaker B:I mean, you can see, once you hold these things in your hands, you can see how you could kind of get an attachment to.
Speaker B:To different coins and stuff like that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And on the older stuff, this is a question that I'm pondering.
Speaker A:On the older stuff, is it more the value of the weight of the metal or is it more the value of how old it is?
Speaker B:So the age of it really doesn't have a whole lot to do with it.
Speaker B: s thing being, you know, from: Speaker B:You know, and that's pretty incredible for a coin being that old.
Speaker B:That's going to determine the value of it and then also how many of them are in this particular grade or higher.
Speaker B:And of course, you've got to have a, you know, quite a few people wanting.
Speaker C:Right to.
Speaker B:To create the demand on it.
Speaker A:So if I.
Speaker A:If I've got precious metals.
Speaker A:Let's just say I've invested in precious metals.
Speaker A:I go to a gun store, I want to buy something.
Speaker A:Can I.
Speaker A:Do you think they'll take my precious metals off of my hands?
Speaker A:Or is that something.
Speaker B:Say if, if it's.
Speaker B:If it's one of the guys that.
Speaker B:That came up to our booth and says, I buy gold and silver all the time, and he's a gun guy and he owns a gun shop.
Speaker B:He'll probably trade you for sure.
Speaker C:Yeah, I think there's a.
Speaker C:There's a pretty good chance that you can.
Speaker C:You know we have.
Speaker C:I have some local customers here that they barter at the locals farmer's market with silver.
Speaker C:You know we've done stuff where we've bought hunting trips with silver, stuff like that.
Speaker C:So yeah, I mean it's definitely something that it's.
Speaker C:It's becoming.
Speaker C:It.
Speaker C:It's becoming more common for sure.
Speaker B:I mean you want to tell them about supply and they've got gold and stuff there at the.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:And then I mean like our, our sister company United Patriot Supply, our physical location is in for that store is in Sitica, Kansas.
Speaker C:They have gold and silver on.
Speaker C:On display there.
Speaker C:And yeah, they're.
Speaker C:They're all into it there too.
Speaker A:So yeah, I was gonna ask good.
Speaker A:You know, if I, if I want to come visit you guys and handle some of this stuff and look at it.
Speaker A:So it'd be United Patriot Supply, I would go in there and handle it or is there a way to come and just sit down and talk with you guys in person?
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:So you got two options if you're.
Speaker C:You can go there to Seneca, Kansas to our shop there, United Patriot Supply.
Speaker C:They've got some gold and silver on hand there for you to look at.
Speaker C:And then if you're local to the.
Speaker C:We're located in Shenandoah, Texas which is right north of Houston.
Speaker C:You can set.
Speaker C:Call us and set an appointment here and come spend some time with us here.
Speaker C:So you got two different options there and then other than that the website is.
Speaker C:Is the other place you would go.
Speaker A:That's awesome.
Speaker A:Well, we are at the halfway point.
Speaker A:I appreciate you guys.
Speaker A:Chance on the.
Speaker A:We're at our halfway point.
Speaker A:We're going to go to our next segment which is from the soapbox.
Speaker A:That's where we talk policy.
Speaker A:Our biggest frustrations gripes everything with politicians, ATF and anything in between.
Speaker A:This is brought to you by Patriot Mobile.
Speaker A:Use code GOA at checkout at Patriot Mobile for one month free.
Speaker A:Patriot Mobile uses all the big wireless networks able to switch networks if you want as well as they are Pro freedom, pro America.
Speaker A:So go ahead and check out Patriot Mobile again.
Speaker A:Use code GOA to get your first month of service free.
Speaker A:So this is where we stand on our soapbox and preach to the choir.
Speaker A:What did your guys take from the soapbox?
Speaker C:So I would really like to bring some awareness to something that we've started to see rising especially this year, which is a rise in, in what's called a tech support scam and it's a gold scam.
Speaker C:And basically what's been going on is you get a pop up on your computer and it seems like you need to call Microsoft or some sort of official sounding technology company or manufacturer.
Speaker C:And then you call them and then next thing you know they're saying your accounts are compromised, you're in trouble.
Speaker C:And then you get transferred to someone who's appearing to be a government representative from either the Department of Treasury or the FTC or some sort of very official sounding thing.
Speaker C:And now all of a sudden you need to protect all of your money.
Speaker C:And the way you need to protect all your money is to buy gold bars and give it to them.
Speaker C:You got to give this gold bars to the Treasury Department so they can keep it in a Treasury locker for you and save your money until you get everything sorted out.
Speaker C:And you know, when I'm saying it like this, it sounds like something like, oh yeah, you would never the sound like obviously there's a bunch of red flags here, right?
Speaker C:But this is, there's a lot of victims.
Speaker C:If you do a Google search on this, you'll see a lot of people are following.
Speaker C:I'm talking millions and millions and millions of dollars is being scammed, primarily targeting the elderly, but it's obviously also others are falling victim as well.
Speaker C:And you know, it's something that I just wanted to really kind of bring.
Speaker C:That's where I want to.
Speaker C:It feels so boxy because it's really tough, um, to see people, you know, lose everything they worked for their whole lives for and, or a lot, or a lot of money just thinking that they were doing something right and then next thing you know, you know, all their money was gone.
Speaker C:And yeah, sorry, it's not gun related.
Speaker B:But yeah, no, we've had a few scenarios like that happen this year with some clients of ours that, that got scammed for a significant amount of money.
Speaker B:And we were trying to figure out how this is actually happening.
Speaker B:You know, how they trusting these people to buy gold from us and this meeting them and give them, just handing them their gold.
Speaker B:And then I saw this movie that came out, it's called the Beekeeper and it's got Jason Statham in it.
Speaker B:And it runs along the same line as what's happening in this industry is, you know, they get a pop up on their screen, they think everything's, you know, messed up with their accounts and they got to move money into this other account and stuff like that.
Speaker B:And then once they do that, it's gone.
Speaker B:You know, so it's, there's a lot of, a lot of shady characters out there that are, that are pinpointing, you know, elderly and, and you know, people that, you know, are getting taken advantage of.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:And we've, we've stopped, we've saved a few people as well from this.
Speaker C:We've started, we've put processes in place to, to ask questions and figure out what's going on.
Speaker C:A lot of this stuff.
Speaker C:And then, you know, we've also put out some newsletters and then we're also actively sharing, you know, where to go report this if it does happen.
Speaker C:You know, you go to the FBI, things like that, Department of Justice, and so they can, they can investigate and figure it out too.
Speaker A:So they're, they're telling them to buy gold and are they shipping it to them?
Speaker A:Are they meeting them in person?
Speaker C:So.
Speaker B:Yes, go ahead.
Speaker C:So far it's been, from what I, the stories that I've read and heard, it's been a combination of mainly meeting them in person.
Speaker C:So one person, you know, they came to their house and, or they sent a third party carrier to come pick up the, pick up the gold from, from them directly at their house.
Speaker C:Another one, they had to go drive and, and meet a Department of treasury representative in, in a parking lot of a casino somewhere and you know, give them the gold and meet the Department of Treasury person.
Speaker C:And you know, it sounds crazy, but it's.
Speaker C:People are, it seems so official when people in the moment and they're scared and you know, you're not thinking fully through.
Speaker C:And um.
Speaker C:And yeah, so it's mainly in person.
Speaker A:That's insane.
Speaker B:We've, I mean, Chad's, Chad's had clients that he's talked to that we kind of suspected it at the beginning.
Speaker B:And Chad was even like, listen, this is a scam that's going on.
Speaker B:Are you sure you're not getting scammed?
Speaker B:And these guys are so convincing to the, the person that's getting scammed.
Speaker B:It just straight up, I mean, Chad, you can share that.
Speaker B:I mean, he's just like, no, this is, this is, this is legit.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:And then, I mean, it'll, it comes out later sometimes that, you know, they were under threat.
Speaker C:You know, they, to, to, to lie, you know, say, yeah, no, I'm not giving it to anybody because they, they're being threatened with arrest.
Speaker C:You know, like they're thinking that they're dealing with someone official, you know, from the government, you know, and so they're thinking that if they lie, if they don't, if they try to, if they tell the truth, that like, yeah, I'm giving this to someone else or something like that.
Speaker C:They feel like they're going to get arrested, you know, and things like that.
Speaker C:And so I think the moral of the story is, is.
Speaker C:Yeah, no government official or anybody will ever ask you for money for gold or silver or money or anything like that.
Speaker A:That's insane.
Speaker A:That.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So they're meeting them in person or a third party carrier is coming up and they're claiming if they're from the Treasury Department.
Speaker A:I feel bad.
Speaker A:I do.
Speaker B:It is.
Speaker B:It's bad.
Speaker C:It is bad.
Speaker B:It is bad.
Speaker B:But, you know, once they, once they hand off that gold and have it in their possession and they just disappear.
Speaker A:Well, it, it's scary that how quickly these scammers change their tactics.
Speaker A:It was, you know, the IRS and gift cards.
Speaker C:Yeah, exactly.
Speaker C:Sorry, go ahead.
Speaker A:No, go ahead.
Speaker C:Yeah, I mean, it's like, now you go to, like, I've started to see it, Walgreens or CVS or whatever.
Speaker C:Like, now you go.
Speaker C:You see signs at the gift card section now that says you may be getting scammed, you know, And I think it's just one of those things where you got to get awareness out there, because in the moment, it seems so real to the victim, and it just really, really is unfortunate.
Speaker C:It is good.
Speaker C:Like, it seems like some of these people are getting caught and it seems like some of the funds are getting recovered, but that's as long as they're being reported.
Speaker C:You know, you have those, those people are reaching out to the local law enforcement or to the Department of Justice, FBI and reporting it.
Speaker C:It's unfortunate that a lot of these people who end up, by the time they figured out, you know, they're so ashamed, you know, or embarrassed, they don't want to report it.
Speaker C:You know, they don't want to tell anybody that something happened or that they fell victim to it, you know, But I think it's very important that if you, if you do fall victim to something like this, like, you got to get out there and, and report it so we can.
Speaker C:People can catch these guys, you know?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I mean, the scammers just change their tactics all the time.
Speaker A:But to go sound like you're from the Department of the treasury and then asking for gold and silver, something that's so precious.
Speaker A:Wild.
Speaker C:It is wild.
Speaker A:Do they have like a dollar amount that they're asking for?
Speaker A:Is there?
Speaker A:Or is it just random?
Speaker C:So.
Speaker C:So that's where the, the technology part comes in.
Speaker C:At the beginning is most of the time the victim installs some sort of malware or some sort of ransomware or something like that, a virus on their computer, which then allows the, the scammer to watch and see what's going on.
Speaker C:And so they'll get an idea of how much money this person has by watching them, like, log into their bank accounts and that kind of stuff.
Speaker C:And so really, that's what it comes down to is like, they want all of your money, and, you know, as soon as they figure it out how much you have, they're coming after you for, like, that amount.
Speaker C:And it's.
Speaker C:It's really scary.
Speaker A:That is.
Speaker A:That's a new one.
Speaker A:I haven't heard of that one.
Speaker A:I've heard of the, the gift card thing.
Speaker A:I've heard of the, the Amazon ones where people get Amazon packages delivered to them.
Speaker A:It's not theirs.
Speaker A:But gold and silver, that's something so precious that people are holding onto for their investment and things like that.
Speaker A:That's just nuts.
Speaker B:So this, this industry has been a high target for fraud, you know, for a while now, especially since we all started selling online.
Speaker B:You know, so people would get other people's banking information and, and try to change their address and have it delivered.
Speaker B:And by the time that account holder actually figured it out, you know, it's already delivered.
Speaker B:Well, thank goodness, there's.
Speaker B:There's technology has come along and we've got fraud prevention software that runs everything before it actually, you know, takes the order and confirms it and everything else like that.
Speaker B:I mean, Chad can tell you he's more smart on computer.
Speaker B:It runs their IP address and everything else.
Speaker B:So, you know, it kind of protects us.
Speaker B:But there is, you know, daily, on a daily basis here, we have orders and people that are just trying to use someone else's credit card or their banking information to buy gold every day.
Speaker A:Good.
Speaker A:So you guys, you guys have systems in place that'll fly all that stuff and get it all done.
Speaker C:Yeah, we've got.
Speaker C:We've got technology in the background that, that automatically identifies fraudulent purchases and stuff like that and does a good job.
Speaker C:And.
Speaker C:Yeah, and then obviously we phone orders.
Speaker C:Um, you can.
Speaker C:They phone.
Speaker C:People phone.
Speaker C:They.
Speaker C:They're getting pretty good, but they're still criminals, are not necessarily.
Speaker C:They're criminals because it's easy, right?
Speaker C:You know, and they're trying to make easy money and trying to do things as easy as possible most of the time.
Speaker C:So what I'm saying is, like, they're maybe not the most smartest group in the bunch a lot of the time, although they are getting smarter and smarter.
Speaker C:But it's usually pretty obvious when it's over the phone, thankfully.
Speaker C:But there's been a few close calls before in the past.
Speaker C:But luckily the technology has gotten really, really good at catching things that are just anomalous, you know, that don't make sense, you know, addresses mismatching and IPS and all this kind of stuff.
Speaker C:So it checks a lot of different factors to try to figure out whether a purchase is legitimate or not.
Speaker A:Well, that's good to hear that you guys are protecting your customers in so many different ways.
Speaker A:We just had the election.
Speaker A:Everything went on.
Speaker A:What, what is the, what in your professional opinion?
Speaker A:What's the forecast for precious metals?
Speaker C:Yeah, I think it's, I think historically, if you look back, gold is always pulled back, usually right after an election.
Speaker C:So gold and silver really thrive on sort of instability and economic uncertainty.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:In which leading up to any election, that's what you have is instability and economic uncertainty.
Speaker C:And so, yeah, historically you always have a little bit of a pullback after an election.
Speaker C:And then you start, then after that the market starts to look back at the fundamentals of, of the economy, both locally here in, in America, but also globally.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:And I think what you'll find is we also have, we have a lot of uncertainty and a lot of instability across the world.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:You know, you still got central banks buying gold at, at high levels.
Speaker C:You still got a country with what, $36 trillion in debt and growing.
Speaker C:You've got a lot of currency being printed.
Speaker C:So the fundamentals are all there for gold and silver to continue to thrive.
Speaker C:Not to mention there's a lot of technological innovations that are going on that call for a high demand of silver.
Speaker C:So they've got that going for it too.
Speaker C:But like what we were talking about earlier, these are short term things.
Speaker C:You know, an election event or something like that is a short term event.
Speaker C:I really encourage people to pull out, you know, and look at that 5, 10, 20 year view on gold and silver.
Speaker C:And you'll see that no matter what happens, you know, gold is in.
Speaker C:Silver has historically done really, really well.
Speaker C:And it's just about wealth preservation.
Speaker C:And it's like Clay said earlier too, it's about the freezing of that purchasing power.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And I know you're saying, look at the 20 year window and things like that.
Speaker A:What are some key signs like when you, when you invest in the stock market, you can follow the stock, you Find that key time where it's time to buy and time to sell.
Speaker A:Where do you find that with.
Speaker A:With precious metals?
Speaker A:Is there a key time where you're like, okay, now is the time to buy precious metals?
Speaker A:Where in the past, you know, I haven't done it as much, you know?
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker B:You know, I would, I would look at it like a savings account and a checking account.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:When do you put money in your savings account?
Speaker B:I would look at gold and silver as kind of like your savings account.
Speaker B:It's going to be there.
Speaker B:You're not playing with it in the market, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker B:You know, because when I got into this industry, gold was a little under $300 an ounce.
Speaker B: , $: Speaker B:You know, never in my wildest dreams, but it did.
Speaker B:And you know, I look at as a preservation of wealth.
Speaker B:You know, when do you put money in your savings account?
Speaker B:Do you do it monthly?
Speaker B:Do you do it quarterly?
Speaker B:You know, I look at it like that gold is kind of like your savings account, your checking accounts, what you're playing with and investing with in other areas.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:And I mean to tie it around to guns.
Speaker C:You know, it's you, you protect your family and you protect your home with, with guns.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:And it's.
Speaker C:You protect your wealth with gold and silver.
Speaker C:You know, there's, there's never a wrong time to do either of those things.
Speaker C:It's always good to, to.
Speaker C:To protect those, those things that are most precious to you, which is your family, your home and, and, and your wealth that you've worked so hard for.
Speaker A:Before we go into the wrap up, I just want to let you guys know, thank to our sponsor, Palmetto State Armory.
